It has the characteristics of high quality steel, such as toughness, plastic elongation, forming, welding, cutting, abrasion, high temperature, fatigue resistance, etc; The weather resistance is 2-8 times that of ordinary carbon steel, and the coating resistance is 1.5-10 times that of ordinary carbon steel. At the same time, it has the characteristics of rust resistance, corrosion resistance, prolonging component life, reducing thickness and consumption, and saving labor and energy.

 

Performance and characteristics of weathering steel

Weathering steel originated from Corten Steel in North America, and is widely used in the manufacture of train carriages, containers and bridges; Weathering steel is used as building facade materials, which has a certain history in North America, Western Europe, Australia, Japan and South Korea in Asia. By adding copper, chromium, nickel and other weathering elements to weathering steel, a layer of about 50~100 is formed between the rust layer and the substrate μ A dense oxide layer with a thickness of m and good adhesion to the base metal. This special dense oxide layer has a stable and uniform natural rust red color.

1. Unique performance characteristics: Firstly, it has outstanding visual expressiveness. Rusted steel plates will change over time. Its color brightness and saturation are higher than ordinary building materials, so it is easy to stand out in the background of garden greenery. In addition, the rough surface caused by steel plate corrosion makes the structure more voluminous and high-quality.

2. It has strong shaping ability. Like other metal materials, corroded steel plates are easier to shape into diverse shapes and maintain excellent integrity, which is difficult for wood, stone, and concrete to achieve.

3. It also has a distinct ability to define space. Due to the high strength and toughness of steel plates, there are not as many thickness limitations as brick and stone materials due to their structure. Therefore, very thin steel plates can be used to partition the space very clearly and accurately, making the venue concise, lively, and full of power.

 

Rust treatment process of weathering steel:

The rust stabilization treatment method is to use chemical methods (rust solution) on the surface of weather resistant steel to produce a rust stabilized film. It is a method of inhibiting the rust that flows out during the initial use of steel and making it stable., Manual processing usually takes 30 days. Usually, if the coating treatment is partially damaged, it will cause the coating to peel off, resulting in rust. In order to maintain aesthetics, it is necessary to repaint. However, the rust stabilization treatment method involves slowly dissolving the rust film, gradually expanding the resulting rust stabilization to the entire surface, and covering the steel with a layer of rust film without maintenance.

1. The first stage: the authentic weathering steel began to grow small rust spots. The rust spots of ordinary steel plates were relatively loose, and some of them had poor rust treatment and even had rust scales;

The second stage of steel plate long rust: authentic weathering steel has less rust water, and the rust spots are small and thick; Ordinary steel plates have more rust water, with larger and thinner rust spots; The rust column and tear marks on ordinary steel plates are relatively severe, and there are signs of blackening at the bottom of the workpiece;

4. The third stage of steel plate long rust: genuine weathering steel has a clear and dense rust core layer, and the rust spots are closely adhered to form a protective layer, which can hardly be removed by hand; Ordinary steel plates have a significant amount of rust, and even the entire piece of rust peels off and wears through. Genuine weathering steel is reddish brown, while ordinary steel plate is dark black.

 

Construction and Installation Nodes

The installation of modern weathering steel building curtain wall (3MM) is similar to that of aluminum plate external wall at present. The thick layer (5MM and above) weather resistant steel plate curtain wall mostly adopts the unit external hanging mode. Landscape and some simple devices often use direct welding technology. The following items need to be noted:

1. Corrosion of welding points: The oxidation rate of welding points must be the same as other materials used, which requires special welding materials and techniques.

2. Water corrosion: weathering steel is not stainless steel. If there is water in the concave position of weathering steel, the corrosion rate will be faster, so drainage must be done well.

3. Salt rich air environment: weathering steel is sensitive to salt rich air environment like Hawaii. In such an environment, the surface protective film may not prevent further internal oxidation.

4. Discoloration: The rust layer on the surface of weathering steel can make the surface of objects near it rusty.

 

Price range

The price of rusted weathering steel mainly includes the price of steel plate raw materials and the price of rust treatment. Rust treatment varies from approximately 100 to 400 RMB per square meter depending on the process. The weathering steel is about 4600 RMB/ton. Taking 3MM thick weather resistant steel plate as an example, the raw material is about 120RMB/m2, and the curtain wall is about 500RMB/m2 after rust treatment and folding installation.
